That's ALWAYS been my take on Valentines Day!! In a poem I wrote a while ago I said "If someone loves you they should tell you every day, in every way. It shouldn't depend on a holiday or what others say. So show me you love me before I walk away." <3
Miss Alecia I do agree that everyday should be true love. It should be that moment you first recieved it growing greater and greater. Even when both of you get old and hate each other there is still that love there. 14 fourteen is such a great number and is so true. If you look at is like this it is two 7 sevens together, seven is the number of completion with these two together you would be complete and true because back to back they would make a T. The truth is always better than fabricated love actions of feelings. There are many ways to explain this situation, but it would be even greater if i could explain it face to face or soul to neck. IF I HAVE TO DO THIS FOR THE NEXT 15 FIFTEEN YEARS LIKE YOU DID THEN I WILL CONTINUE TO DO THAT .

I was born a premature baby and made history then i suffered with kidney failure as a teenager then did kidney dialysis for three years i remember telling my mother that when I get my kidney transplant I will get my high school diploma and had support from family and friends also struggling with my weight fifteen years now ,I I almost died ten years ago. But God told me it was not my time to go so on valentines day I receive my kidney transplant and graduated from high school I must say that I had the opportunity to travel to my parents hometown four years ago to celebrate with my aunts uncle and cousins and friends and went to the beach I will treasure my trip forever. I celebrate my birthday and all the occasions with family and friends which in life you do not get a second chance .I will take this year 2010 to lose my fifty pounds and keep it off and maintain it. Like in the song Man in the Mirror by Michael Jackson.

What an incredibly talented young lady you are. I was walking by my daughters room and she was playing your song Empire State of Mind. Your voice, even though I am dating myself, immediately reminded me of the when we used to listen to young Patti Labelle and Aretha Franklin. By that I mean the power, control and shear purity. I went online and watched you perform the song live. I was impressed beyond. Your music writing and playing are definitely going to make you one of the true greats. It is not often entertainers like you come along. I am positive that years from now you will still be a dominate force in the industry. I went on to your site and listened to some more of your music and it is really good. So on behalf of the, as my daughters continually tell me a part of, the worlds aging....Fantastic. I agree as well. Love is supposed to be endless, not just to be celebrated on one day of the year. It's funny how we all grow up to believe (most, not all), that Valentine's day is a sacred day of love and if we don't have someone to celebrate it with, that we are missing out on this day? And it's funny that if we are with someone, that we expect them to show us affection, cards, candy, etc on this day and if we don't receive it...they must just not love us! Forget it all - just let go of any expectations and think, do and love when ever and everyday!

I TOTALLY agree with you. Me and my couple don't celebrate Valentine's Day. We believe in our love everyday, and we prefer to surprise the other any other day of the year. That's what love is. You have to feel it every single day of the year, and not feel it more deeply on Feb 14th

I came to know what you are speaking of this valentines especially. I felt that v day was just another day but sometimes ppl around u make u feel obligated to participate in some way. I never felt like I needed special attention on valentines day i really wanted consistency with the small things that make me smile. Now that I am older and more comfortable with myself & my decesions Im ok with not having my love "comercialized" as you put it. I am in new love & cherish the consistency that i have, I can get chocolate anytime Just make me smile often.

The first song I heard was his No One, was the last straw, I fell for her songs, I kept hearing them, went on the internet, all I heard was they only see things about you, well, it was from there, that I'm a big fan, I know all about you, maybe not everything, I know I have many stories to tell, when you have children, uh, what stories, won many awards, many albums, so much music, so many fans!

Do you think the person that feels unhappy should keep trying to make it work or just give up and try to find the perfect partner? I have been married for almost five years and I'm very depressed. I feel like I'm not good enough for my wife and I have been trying to make it work for the last 3 years, but at his moment I just don't have the energy. I'm really considering that for me it will be better to stay alone. What will you do in a situation like this. I'm really interested in the femenine side.

Alicia, my fiance & I completely agree! I believe that it's not about the material things that we can give(especially on 1 day) to express our love to one another, but the things we do for or say to each other on a daily basis that shows we love each other. My fiance & I love your music and our favorite song is "If I ain't got you"! Your new album is amazing and we look forward to seeing you perform live in Houston, TX for the first time!!!! If you tell someone I love you everyday, then the word loses it's meaning.
Love is a very powerful word don't wear- it -out, yet it must only be used only to your true love. ( please don't confuse what I just said with your kids, mother, father, sister, brother etc... they need to hear those magical words too.
We must not wear-out the word LOVE.
Only use the word love when you truly mean it.

I just want to give Kudos to Alicia for one of the best albums I have heard yet. "As I Am" was one of the first albums I heard and loved it. It made me become a fan and then came "The Element of Freedom" I love this album. I need to know why we here in Miami or Fort Lauderdale, FL are not getting a concert. I go to the grocery store and people are blasting her CD, at work, on the radio, iPhones etc...... Can we get a concert please?
You know I to asked myself that this year! We all die as martyres inside ourselves for the love of another. I asked my boo a whole bunch of questions after a knowing her for a year or did i really know her? She said "You sure are full of questions today". Yes i bought her 1/2 doz roses and heart shape box of Roche chocolates and those heart candies with sayings on them, that you read before you pop them into your mouth and chomp on them, and a small balloon. I totally am a giver and don"t ever expect anything back. I live for the day that i live. i love for the day that i live. I dont need gifts and if i get them i accept them, but the most wonderful gift was given to me when God gave me life. Valentines Day is everyday. Even if it is meant to say "I Love You" or "Thank You" or show some appreciation to the ones you love. I'm glad i joined this site, its inspirational and it makes you think. Thanks Alicia

Like, I don't have a woman and am a pretty grounded guy in my beliefs but still something is missing.
I always believe a intelligent concious woman or NOTHING, but it still gets tough. People who know me will
attest I sat in the house Valentines and never even called a single woman except my Mother and stepmom.
But also as you said love is everyday. A site like this where I can talk to woman who are on another level is Valentines to me everytime I log on. Reading essence's poetry is inspiration to hump 4 blocks through the snow to get the wireless. So once again Happy Valentines to the Sis's here on the site. I agree with everything you're saying but I feel that way about ALOT of holidays. It's sad though b/c it took a "recession" for alot of people I know to feel the same. Actions speak louder than words and if V-day is one of the only days your other goes out of their way for you, there's a problem.
The truth is....am cupid! And St. Valentine stole my box of chocolates and flowers right before he passed away and got the credit!!!! :-< so all these years it was my idea and that bum just took the credit! lol ;-D

just came on board as an aficionado of your music...hope to see you in concert in chicago if not in canada...paw paw michigan was a road stop for the big bands in the 20's 30's and 40's...my dad played bass behind a lot of great talent then...he was a royal rogue on the stand-up bass...he inspired me to piano first then trumpet(thus the whitesatchmo)and subsequently to songwriting and guitar....currently doing a gig with only my originals...one of which colllection is on a demo....in 1959 i played trumpet and got rave reviews....the songwriting and guitar since 1970 have produced the finest music you've never heard(one of my compliments recently)....its okay to think your good...let your listeners tell everyone how great you are.... i took a class called humility 101 for a few weeks and they gave my money back saying you can't be humble with that kind of talent!!! tongue in cheek....."black irish"
I think that you are so right a box of chocolates from your local store dosnt show how much you love me on v-day or a teddy bear from a factory with the words i love you on it but a card a poem just cause its the 3rd tuesday of march is how you show some one you love them or i just saw it and thought of you is how you really show you love someone

Alicia I think you're right on, every day should be Valentine's days, I know some couples who do not show love one another, to me this is not love! They say that love ends, for me love is infinite, which is actually just the passion. At first everything is wonderful, but when you decide to marry, for example, dividing problems paying bills to flee quickly, getting divorced, even love! If showing love every day, the problems and all, would be just one more thing to do, good, happy days of boyfriends!

OMG, we are so alike, im exactly the same, so many things interest me, and im always researching and invewstigating things that pop into my head or that are triggered by things ive heard, funny enough i only just looked up about the meaning on valetines day myself the other day... x

I agree BUT...
I agree with everything you're saying but I feel that way about ALOT of holidays. It's sad though b/c it took a "recession" for alot of people I know to feel the same. Actions speak louder than words and if V-day is one of the only days your other goes out of their way for you, there's a problem.

The truth is....am cupid! And St. Valentine stole my box of chocolates and flowers right before he passed away and got the credit!!!! :-< so all these years it was my idea and that bum just took the credit! lol ;-D
I can chill with a love lottery tho....stop it who said money. lol Thanks for sharing its sweet. and yeah I much have a real chocolate than a boxed one....last longer and you can snuggle with it ;-D

just came on board as an aficionado of your music...hope to see you in concert in chicago if not in canada...paw paw michigan was a road stop for the big bands in the 20's 30's and 40's...my dad played bass behind a lot of great talent then...he was a royal rogue on the stand-up bass...he inspired me to piano first then trumpet(thus the whitesatchmo)and subsequently to songwriting and guitar....currently doing a gig with only my originals...one of which colllection is on a demo....in 1959 i played trumpet and got rave reviews....the songwriting and guitar since 1970 have produced the finest music you've never heard(one of my compliments recently)....its okay to think your good...let your listeners tell everyone how great you are.... i took a class called humility 101 for a few weeks and they gave my money back saying you can't be humble with that kind of talent!!! tongue in cheek....."black irish"

I think that you are so right a box of chocolates from your local store dosnt show how much you love me on v-day or a teddy bear from a factory with the words i love you on it but a card a poem just cause its the 3rd tuesday of march is how you show some one you love them or i just saw it and thought of you is how you really show you love someone

Alicia I think you're right on, every day should be Valentine's days, I know some couples who do not show love one another, to me this is not love! They say that love ends, for me love is infinite, which is actually just the passion. At first everything is wonderful, but when you decide to marry, for example, dividing problems paying bills to flee quickly, getting divorced, even love! If showing love every day, the problems and all, would be just one more thing to do, good, happy days of boyfriends!

OMG, we are so alike, im exactly the same, so many things interest me, and im always researching and invewstigating things that pop into my head or that are triggered by things ive heard, funny enough i only just looked up about the meaning on valetines day myself the other day... x

Very nervous day today, not doing much since outside it has been snowing again!
I love snow but when it's too much it's too much.
Fortunately there was your music on to relax a bit...
At least I had a great dinner and sang with friend in a nice Chilean restaurant yesterday...
I do agree with you, I don't like all the commercial around this day and it should be like this everyday!!!
