When my Auntie kicked me out her house and left me homeless in Washington I had nowhere and no one to run to. I always knew Alicia Keys had great songs but was I in for a surprise. I'm telling you I wasn't prepared for what The Element of Freedom had in store for me. So when my Auntie kicked me out that summer I hit the streets of Bellevue hard in search of hope and shelter. Alicia Keys gave me both. I'm telling you. Some may think how can Alicia Keys give him shelter but she did and theres really no other way to explain that.
In plus theres always something special about that first time listening to music and when I went to the record store that day I knew I wanted to buy her album. I listened to Doesn't mean anything, and Try sleeping with a broken heart and absolutely fell in love with Alicia Keys. I mean I wanted her album so bad that I was gonna try to steal it. Can you believe it, to steal her album, that's how much her album gave me hope and shelter. Just press on and never give up is what the songs were meaning to me. I can't believe how well she sung, amazing vocalist she hit notes on there that sounded so good through my Sony headphones, I'm telling you if you haven't decided on that next album choose this album The Element of Freedom. I bought this album and fell in love with it. I would listen to it every day as I walked on the beach, wearing my fit flops and looking out at the ocean. A very peaceful experience. I love her music so much. Really a great album and I highly recommend people go out and get it. Keep up the great work.
It's 3:10 at this time, my mom wonders why I don't like being in the same zone as hers, I wonder when I am going to win a argument against her it is kind of hard since the conflicts that we have are mostly about her and always results to her yelling about something that doesn't have anything to do with with the subject. My father is trying to help me but my mom keeps throwing chains around my neck pulling me away from my best friend. I am learning how to be a man and I see that my family believes that I have become a crazy outcast, trader, UN-bearable, a beast, a jackass, and you know what I feel like? Superman because I'm doing what I feel is real, real as in chill, chill as in cool , cool as in myself, myself as in: vivid, wild, hopeful, poetic, mature, a listener, deep, flow-able to the beat of my thoughts that come from my soul, honest on what kind of person I am, unafraid of the outcome of a tragic loss in your mind and heart. Now tell me why a family would think of that as a crime to human society, because they never had the will to see beyond the $100,000 Mercedes with a trailer as a home. Just like all Alicia Keys Albums this one was mind blowing. Every song was inspiring and motivating. You are the reason why I love music and will continue to love it. I love every song you have created. Even if you did not right it you alway pour you heart, mind, soul in every song that you do. Once again you are truly amazing.

I really like Alicia Keys. She's good. She's a great r&b singer. She's got a great voice. When her fourth studio album 'The Element of Freedom' came out in November of 2009. It was right after I turned twenty seven. My mom should have bought me this for christmas because she would. She forgot to tell me that she would me this for christmas. I forgot to tell her that she would.
I have to say I was a bit disappointed with this album. I LOVE the first two ones and I really got into her new style and approach to the AS I AM album, and I CRAVED almost each and every song of the first 3 albums, but only like half of the songs on this one touched me. It's almost like finally, she managed to create distance even in her songs, the distance that she keeps in her interviews as well, though I absolutely don't blame her for the latter. The lyrics are inspiring and powerful, but through that she tends to become inapproachable. The intimacy and warmth of her earlier songs belong to the things that I loved most about her.

Element of freedom...was introduced to me by my girl in FLORIDA.....@ a crucial time that we were heading towards a distance relationship. More important ,her favouite songs gave me a headup into her heart thus allowing me to prepare to brace the rollercoaster of the changes. This album and LOVE IS BLIND has become my passion to stablize the hurt and loss. Sometimes ill listen to the album all day long as im driving distance.....i wont tell the average guy this...heee.....nutty...love you ALICIA and your voice during those extreme moments in the day...MARIO
Listening to Element of freedom is like taking a journey through a love affair. I enjoyed each and every song,it makes me miss my husband when he's not home and still be happy as a new mum because the love is so overwhelming,i feel i can express my self through AK's music.This album brings out the maturity in AK the lyrics,the feeling and love is enourmous just fromlistening to Element of Freedom album
My review is by-far she really outdid herself with this album. She has grown with us & it shows deeply in her music. I lost my baby daughter 3 yrs ago & although her songs are mainly love songs for a couple it touched me in the same way I feel for my child. Her songs are very deep & real. I brought the cd as soon as it hit the shelf because she always has great music but was not expecting to get what I got, I don't usually buy cd's because they usually have a handful of good songs what you hear on the radio but not the case with the element of freedom. I think this cd is full of hit songs & I can't skip a song without listening to it. Now this is what I call music. Music so beautiful it can make you laugh or cry

As much as I've loved Alicia's music in the past she just continues to get better. The Element of Freedom is her best yet -- and that's hard to say since she's never done anything I HAVEN'T liked! Maybe love and marriage has added a dimension to her life that is opening her up to her higher self. and it shows I just thank God she is creating music for people who appreciate the art of music and doesn't require drugs to appreciate or understand. Love you Alicia and congratulations to both you and your new husband.

This album was THA BOMMBB:D. I REALLY Lovee it. I find Alicia once again really grew in her musical abilities just like she does with each of her albums so far. There were many new sounds and vibes to this album that I never really heard with Alicia before which is great beacuse she just keeps continuing to grow in beautiful ways:D I find this album was really different from her first 3 and I loveee it. (i also love her first 3 albums lol) but this one just seemed like a fresh and keep on growing Alicia Keys<3

WHAT AN ALBUM, not immediate but "boy" does it grow on you
lots of different variantion to the songs and a musical sensibility that I found so rare and lacking in so much I hear in modern commercial music. If Alicia can carry on with this quality of songwriting, she's a star that will never fade. Wow can't begin to imagine what is to come, but already looking forward to it.
The choir in "How it feels to fly" just transport's me home to the world of spirit I belong in, again very rare Art let's me connect to somewhere not of this world.
Plenty of catchy stuff too. like the chord changes in "Empire state of mind" , the lolling "Love is blind" or the driving "Wait till u see my smile", ahh just too many favourites "Doesn't mean anything" it sure does Alicia
