Lyrics Narrative:
This was one of the very first songs that I ever wrote and it will always be a special song to me. I remember sitting in my momma's apartment when I was about 14 on one of my first Upright pianos and I was listening a lot to Brian McKnight. I loved the way he played piano and wrote the most beautiful love songs. I kept playing around with these chords a little every day after school...until it finally turned into Butterflyz.

not even the fact that i do love butterflies.....they represent transitions! but when you had this song followed up after "Never Felt This Way". It went together perfect! lol i always said that "Butterflies" was gonna be my wedding song! well written and sung! stay charged.......

Alicia, thank you for sharing! I often wonder what helped you create it, one of MY fave's too! I have written a few songs after hearing Brain too totally nderstand. I usually have to listen three times on repeat.....just to keep hearing "....(piano)....got me flying so high in the skkkkkkyyy, I cant control these butterflies.....(BRIDGE)....." I like to imitate you when I am in a singing mood, especially on the drawnout notes, like you're just taking an audible breath.....
Your voice, smooth like a harp, pleasant like a chime! Each note, every song sounds DIFFERENT. How you want US to feel is easily overheard in this song; The listener can feel open, light, free....like a butterfly. Troubles, Diary, and Lesson Learned give me the same vibes - In a place of deep feeling, but so overwhelmed by it, that all you can do is linger IN tha feeling. That is what you do Mrs. Keys, keep the FEELIN alive! Your albums over the years have been instrumental in my own life and the lives of many young women.
